How to Keep Visitors on Your Website

September 2, 2019

In addition to bringing traffic to your website, another goal to keep in mind for your website is to keep those visitors for as long as possible. Youtube is another medium that uses "title cards" to link to other videos to keep visitors on a channel. One of the reasons is because visitors who stay on a website longer are more likely to purchase a product or a service. Below are three ways on how to keep visitors on your website.

Create Call to Actions

A call to action is helpful in that they can link to another page on your website. This can be a service or to a relevant page that tackles similar subjects. Some other ideas include:

  • Newsletter
  • Link to Services or Product Pages on Blog Posts
  • Offer a Free Product/Ebook

Easy to Digest Content

A few mistakes I made when I started blogging consistently was creating posts full of long paragraphs. However, many people want to digest content quickly and easily. Some ideas are to use lists and summaries.Having content 200-300 words and which is broken up using bullet list or images will help in making your content easy for your visitors to digest.

Use Video Content

I have been going back and incorporating more video content into my website. I think having video content helps your visitors in several ways:

  • Can Explain a Product or Service
  • Gives Visitors Another Way to Digest Content

Summary: How to Keep Visitors on Your Website

In conclusion, these are just a few ways to keep visitors on your website. A good way to test if your visitors are sticking around is to use Google Analytics and look at the "Bounce Rate" for your users. Overall, I think if your website is mainly about helping and assisting your visitors, the more likely they will stay.

How to get web Traffic to a Website

August 12, 2019

A popular myth in creating a website is that once you publish it, traffic will automatically flow to it. If you've created a website, you've found out that is not the case. Attention on the internet is a precious commodity and getting traffic to your website can be a difficult process. Below are a few ways on how to get web traffic to a website.

Social Media Ads

It seems like these days, growing web traffic organically through social media is difficult. Most sites like Facebook and Instagram give priority to paid advertisements. If your budget includes paid advertisements on Social Media it's a great way to promote a product or service that your website.

Collaboration

Guest posting on someone's blog or collaborating on a project together can increase traffic to your website.

Create a Street Team

This tip came from podcasting expert Pat Flynn. A street team is 30-50 people who can review and help promote:

  • Podcasts
  • Books
  • YouTube channel
  • Blogs
  • Products

It's almost similar to a beta list used in product management product launches. So if you wanted to launch a new service or product to your clients, you can use the Street Team to beta test and review it before the actual release.

Communities:

Another good resource for getting web traffic to a website is using communities and groups. Relevant groups on Reddit are a great way to bring attention to your business. However, certain groups have restrictions for promotion and marketing your website.

In conclusion, I think all these methods fall under being able to distribute and promote content. If you have any methods that you've personally used for your website, I would love to hear from you. Thank you for reading!

Paid Website or Facebook Business Page

October 15, 2018

I recently read Gary Vaynerchuk's Crushing it and in the book, he recommends creating a Facebook business page for your brand. In the past, I've always been put off when using Facebook Business as it may seem unprofessional to certain audiences. Below I will be looking at whether you should have a Paid Website or Facebook Business Page for your brand.

Facebook Business Page:

A Facebook Business Page has several advantages and disadvantages to a paid website.

Advantages:

  • Affordable Advertising
  • Free Web Hosting
  • Integrates Easily with Instagram

Disadvantages:

  • Not a Unique Domain Name
  • Limited Control of the Look of your Website
  • Privacy Concerns

Facebook has had some issues as of late. The Cambridge Analytica scandal along with the recent Data Breach that happened this past September gave me pause when using the service. However, as Facebook still has over 2 billion users (Not including Instagram users), it's hard to imagine Facebook going anywhere soon.

Summary: Paid Website or Facebook Business Page

In conclusion, I think it is beneficial to have both a Paid Website or Facebook Business Page. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages but combined they can deliver great results. Having a Facebook Business Page can serve as an excellent backup solution incase your main website goes down. In the future, I would love to see another competitor to Facebook arise because I think competition is good. Youtube has begun to implement photos and stories into their platform so they may be a great alternative to Facebook.Thank you for visiting this blog post. I hope you found this article interesting. Siteground Web Hosting Review

August 27, 2018

Similar to my previous Review of Bluehost Web Hosting, I want to do more reviews of web hosting services. As I have been using Siteground for close to a year, I felt now was a good time to review the service. The SiteGround company is a hosting company that is based in Bulgaria but has datacenters all over the world. Below is my Siteground Web Hosting Review.

Who this Product is For:

Perhaps you have a Facebook Business or Social Media you are using to run your business. Or you might use a service such as Squarespace or Wix has a platform to host your website. As your business grows you may want something that has features that these platforms do not offer.Hosting your own website is a lot similar to hosting on Facebook Business or Squarespace only you have a lot more control over the look and feel of your site. Siteground's customer base includes developers, marketers, and other small business professionals. Also, Siteground is highly compatible with WordPress. A bonus if you're already familiar with using WordPress as a site and blogging option.

Price & Length

Siteground offers three web hosting plans to choose from Startup, Grow Big, GoGeek. Outside of traditional web hosting, the company offers cloud hosting and enterprise hosting options. As with most web hosting plans, I would always choose the monthly plan to fully evaluate the service.

Additional Costs

As with most web hosting services, if you do not have a domain name you will need to purchase one. Siteground also offers a free "Let's Encrypt SSLs" certificate which must be renewed every three months. Siteground does offer a yearly SSL Certificate that cost around $99 at this time.

What You Get

The following features included in the basic plan are:

  • Free Website Builder
  • cPanel & SSH Access
  • Free CMS Install
  • 24/7 Technical Support
  • SSD Storage
  • Free Auto Daily Backups
  • Unlimited Email Accounts & DBs
  • HTTP/2 Enabled Servers
  • Free Let's Encrypt SSLs
  • Free Cloudflare CDN
  • GDPR compliant

However, I think Siteground's strongest area is providing a reliable hosting service with relatively little downtime.

What You Won’t Get

A major issue that I had when using SiteGround was with it's Free Let's Encrypt SSLs. Siteground offers a free wildcard SSL certificate for your hosting. However, the free certificate must be renewed every three months. The SSL renewal tool had difficulty renewing the SSL when it expired. I needed to contact customer service in order to properly renew the SSL.Because of this, I'm a bit skeptical when it comes to using Siteground's Free SSL to manage an e-commerce site. I think it makes more sense to pay for their separate SSL certificate which renews yearly instead of every three months.Visitor Limitations:Another issue that many have reported regarding SiteGround is their monthly visitor limitations. Depending on the plan you select, if your website attracts over a certain number of visitors, Siteground will begin to slow down your website. For instance, if you're on the StartUp plan, and you attract 400-500 visitors a day, your website will begin to slow down due to the plan limiting to 10,000 monthly visitors.

Summary: Siteground Web Hosting Review

In conclusion, I found Siteground to be a major upgrade compared to Bluehost. I found that my website was stable and held up to incoming traffic. While SiteGround is a much better hosting service than Bluehost, the service needs some improvement. Having to renew an SSL cert every three months has been frustrating. Especially when you do not receive notifications on when your certificate is expiring. In general, I think Siteground is fine if you're starting out with a budget. However, I would find it hard to recommend if you have a website with high numbers of traffic and users. Finally, I would like to say thank you for reading this article. I hope you found it informative and helpful regarding SiteGround as a hosting platform.
