I recently read Gary Vaynerchuk's Crushing it and in the book, he recommends creating a Facebook business page for your brand. In the past, I've always been put off when using Facebook Business as it may seem unprofessional to certain audiences. Below I will be looking at whether you should have a Paid Website or Facebook Business Page for your brand.
Facebook Business Page:
A Facebook Business Page has several advantages and disadvantages to a paid website.
Advantages:
- Affordable Advertising
- Free Web Hosting
- Integrates Easily with Instagram
Disadvantages:
- Not a Unique Domain Name
- Limited Control of the Look of your Website
- Privacy Concerns
Facebook has had some issues as of late. The Cambridge Analytica scandal along with the recent Data Breach that happened this past September gave me pause when using the service. However, as Facebook still has over 2 billion users (Not including Instagram users), it's hard to imagine Facebook going anywhere soon.
Summary: Paid Website or Facebook Business Page
In conclusion, I think it is beneficial to have both a Paid Website or Facebook Business Page. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages but combined they can deliver great results. Having a Facebook Business Page can serve as an excellent backup solution incase your main website goes down. In the future, I would love to see another competitor to Facebook arise because I think competition is good. Youtube has begun to implement photos and stories into their platform so they may be a great alternative to Facebook.Thank you for visiting this blog post. I hope you found this article interesting.
