Best Podcasts for Creative Entrepreneurs in 2019

December 1, 2019

I wanted to take a minute to share some of my favorite podcasts of 2019. These are podcasts that mainly discuss working as an entrepreneur in the creative field and discuss subjects such as copywriting, illustration, photography, and videography. Here are 7 of the best podcasts for creative entrepreneurs in 2019.

  • 529podcast
  • Brand You Podcast
  • Business Lounge Podcast
  • Creating things Together
  • Passion in Progress
  • Visual Revolution
  • Waveform: The MKBHD

529podcast

The 529podcast is hosted by photographers Benjamin Lee (@itchban) and Demas Rusli (@demas) and features interviews from several professionals in the creative industry. In addition to discussing freelancing, the 529podcast details a lot of the behind the scenes of Social Media.

Brand You Podcast

The Brand You Podcast is hosted by Mike Kim and talks a lot about Personal Branding in addition to Copywriting, Marketing, and Coaching.

The Business Lounge Podcast

Another podcast I wanted to share in this article is the Business Lounge Podcast from Kimberly Ann Jimenez. I think one of the differences that stands out in the Business Lounge Podcast, is that it concentrates on the business aspect of being a creative entrepreneur. It seems like most podcasts from creatives focus on the social aspect of running a business. In contrast, I feel the Business Lounge Podcast puts the business side as the main priority of being an entrepreneur.

Creating things Together

The podcast Creating Things Together is from the husband and wife team of James (@jamestheredd) and Christina Redd (@christinaredd), discusses various themes of working as a creative such as the behind the scenes of their creative process. It's also a really funny podcast that keeps you entertained throughout the episodes.

Passion in Progress

Next on the recommendation list is a podcast called Passion in Progress which is hosted by Javier Mercedes. The podcast features many interviews and stories from entrepreneurs, content creators, social media influencers, and more. Because the podcast has a diverse range of guest I always feel like I'm learning something new when I listen to the show.

  • Listen to Passion in Progress: here

Visual Revolution

Similarly to the Passion in Progress podcast, the Visual Revolution is a show that interviews photographers, filmmakers, and other content creators. Many of the interviews feature the backstory of how these creators began in their respective industries.

Waveform: The MKBHD Podcast

Last on this list is the Waveform podcast from Youtuber MKBHD. In contrast to most of the podcast referenced in this post, the Wavform podcast is mostly a technology-focused podcast. However, it does go behind the scenes in discussing marketing deals such as product embargos and other industry details.

  • Nikon developing the D6

Favorites for this Week:

Here are a few things that came out this week that I inspire all of you to check out:

  • HAWAII Beneath the Surface || Nolan Omura - Canon 5d mk4 + Aquatech Housing
  • Portrait of Iceland | Shot on the BMPCC | - Of Two Lands

What I like:

Here are a few things I like about doing Podcasts:

  • Less Preparation
  • Less Editing Time
  • Feels More Natural

Things I have Noticed

It's funny when you start listening back to audio of yourself.

Summary: Thoughts on Starting a Podcast

Currently, my Podcasts are available on Youtube. I plan to publish them to Itunes and Spotify once I've had a few more under my belt. I think the key to improving at something you want to get better at it is to constantly practice. I'm going to try to make this podcast a weekly thing but wanted to share the process of this project.

The Reason Why I'm Starting a Podcast

November 28, 2018

[sc name="affiliate disclosure"]Like many entrepreneurs and small businesses this year, I have decided to start a podcast. I personally love Podcasts and talk radio in general. Personally, I never would have imagined starting a Podcast myself. But the beauty of the technology age that we are living in today means a lot more opportunity to do more creative things. Below I am going to discuss the reason why I'm starting a podcast and why it might be great for your business as well.

The Reason Why I'm Starting a Podcast

For starting the Podcast I choose to invest into the Blue Yeti microphone. Initially I was using my cell phone as a microphone but the quality to me just wasn't good.

Learn New Skills

One reason I started blogging was to become better at writing. Similar to blogging, I think starting a podcast can help in developing communication skills. I think there is also an opportunity to meet and interview other creatives and small businesses in the community.

More Ways to Consume Content

Since I started creating content I have found that people consume content in different ways. I tend to enjoy reading something that interests me whereas others may enjoy watching or listening to that same piece of content.

Podcast Platforms

While developing a Podcast, I have begun to learn about the mediums in which these are hosted. Almost similar to how hosting services for websites, there are dedicated hosting plaftforms for Podcasts. Below are a few podcast hosts that I have come across:

  • Pippa

  • PodBean

  • Shout Engine

Recording Software

Anchor.fm appears to be one of the best out of the box and simple recording software for Podcasts. However, I have heard great things about the following platforms used for recording audio:

  • Audacity

  • Garage Band

Summary: The Reason Why I'm Starting a Podcast

Going forward, I see starting a podcast as a prelude to other mediums such as vlogging or public speaking. Right now, I have begun to convert many of my old blog posts into Podcast versions. I'm still getting the main kinks out of the podcast such as audio and platform choice, but I will update this website with the links to the Podcast as soon as it's finished.Thank you for visiting this blog post. I hope you found this article interesting. If you need assistance with your next project be sure to connect with me on the Work with Me Page. Have a great day![tg_divider style="normal"]
