Visiting Alameda, California

July 9, 2019

Traveling has never been more popular nowadays. I enjoy picking up my camera and traveling to places I've never been to. However, I think we often neglect the areas that are local and close to home. Because I am familiar and local to the town, I decided to create a quick video about visiting Alameda, California.

About Alameda:

Alameda, California was founded in 1853 by European Americans. The town of Alameda is a small town of about 23.0 square miles. While the town is small, it is very rich in diversity and culture. Also, during the summer there are numerous festivals along Park and Webster streets.

City Information:

Alameda is located on an island seven miles east of San Francisco, and a mile west of Oakland. The city can be reached via bridges on the east end of the city, along with a tunnel on the west side of the town. Also, you can reach the city by two ferries on opposite ends of the city.

Areas filmed:

  • Alameda Theatre
  • Crown Beach
  • Harbor Bay Isle
  • Naval Air Station Alameda
  • Neptune Beach

Salesforce Park

December 3, 2018

The Salesforce Transit Center became the replacement for the old Transbay terminal in August of 2018. If you've ever been to New York, you might find the Transit Center similar to the Highline in Chelsea. I visited the Salesforce Park in early September of 2018 to see how it compares to the Highline.

Location:

The Transit Center is located at 425 Mission St between Second and Beale in San Francisco. If you take the escalator all the way up, you will reach the Park.

Summary:

In conclusion, the Salesforce Transit Center is an excellent spot for great views of downtown San Francisco. In contrast to the Highline in New York, the Park is smaller in terms of scale. Because of some structural issues, the Transit Center is temporarily closed at this time. However, once it reopens I expect the Salesforce Park to become a popular spot.
