Canon EOS R Review

When the Canon EOS R was first released, it received a ton of criticism, some of which was rightly deserved. This tends to happen a lot with Canon Cameras. Throughout its release, Canon implemented several firmware fixes that fixed several issues. It also made the EOS R a capable camera. After owning the EOS R for over a year, I wanted to discuss some of the pros and cons of owning this mirrorless camera. The following video is my long-term Canon EOS R Review.

Sample Photos:

Pros:

  • Fully Articulated Swivel screen.

  • Weather sealing

  • Ergonomics

  • Silent Shooting

  • Lens Selection

  • 4K Recording at up to 30 fps

Cons:

  • Heavily cropped 4K.

  • No “In Body Image Stabilization”

  • New RF Mount Requires New Lenses

  • Only One SDcard Slot Available

  • Soft Video Image is another drawback for this camera.

    • In my opinion, other cameras like the Sony A7 series beat the EOS R in terms of video image quality.

    • Canon still has great camera science but Sony is definitely catching up to Canon in terms of color quality.

  • Timelapse is only available in movie mode

  • Multifunctional Dial Replaces Joystick on the Camera Body.
