I recently began using the Sony A7iii and one of the issues I had was the lack of an intervalometer. There are a few workarounds for this issue that primarily use video and not actual photos. Below is why I am a huge fan of the Cascable App which provides a solution for the missing intervalometer.
Who this Product is For
If you're a Sony user the Cascable app is great to invest in. This is primarily because many Sony cameras lack an intervalometer to create timelapases. In addition to Sony, Cascable also work with other camera brands such as Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, and Panasonic. As long as you have an internet connection Cascable should work for your camera.
Price & Length
At the time of this writing, Cascable offers a free and paid version for their app. The paid version of this app is priced at $24.
What You Get
The reason why I choose to invest in Cascable is because of the intervalometer feature. However, Cascable also has several other features:
- Powerful Geotagging Tools
- Automating Complicated Shots
- Night Mode
- Photo Review
- Focus Peaking
- View Raw Files
Most noteworthy among the features is being able to control the Aperture, ISO, and Shutter from the app.
What You Won’t Get
One issue I found with Cascable had to do with difficulty connecting the app to the camera. In future iterations of the app design, I hope Cascable can make it easier to connect to the camera.I would also like to see a video mode incorporated into the app so that you can remote trigger video from the app.
Summary: Why I am a Huge Fan of the Cascable App
In conclusion, I liked Cascable so much that I use it regularly with my Sony cameras. I do wish Sony would implement a firmware solution for this issue but as of now if you're looking for a intervalometer solution for the Sony A7iii Cascable is a great option.
