Compared to the previous A7ii, Sony has made improvements to the Sony A7 iii
- APS-C Mode.
- Silent Shooting.
- 4K Video.
What You Won’t Get
Similar to what I wrote in my Sony A7rIII Review, the lack of an intervalometer in Sony's latest camera continues to surprise me. There are of course workarounds such as using the S&Q mode but I wish Sony would add a firmware update for this feature. Outside of the S&Q mode workaround, I found the Cascable app to work amazing for timelapses. Unfortunately this app is not yet available on the Android system.The body of the Sony A7 iii resembles the A7r iii. As a result of these changes to the body, the A7iii is also heavier compared to the outgoing Sony A7ii.
Summary: Sony A7 iii Review
In conclusion, I think the Sony A7 iii is a fantastic camera that met all my expectations. The A7iii seems like a mini A7rIII outside of the 42-megapixel sensor. I would have loved for Sony to include a fully articulated screen however with the increased autofocus and facial detection features assist in not needing a screen to see yourself. If you're in the market for a new camera the A7 iii is a great choice.
