Color Palettes in Cinema

While researching on color choices used in branding, I came across the Instagram account: colorpalette.cinema. Color Palettes in Cinema highlights many different color schemes used in a film. Because I love film, as you might have guessed from some of my early articles, I decided to write about colorpalette.cinema. It seems like design and moviemaking have a lot of similarities to each other, in that they take various mediums to communicate a message to the audience. In addition, cinema combines typography, imagery, sound, and color to produce a unique work of art.

Color Palettes in Cinema

The Instagram account, colorpalette.cinema, started as early as October of 2016. Along with investigating the color scheme, each post for the scene references the title of the film, director, cinematographer and production designer. One thing I noticed is that many of the color palettes were complementary with one another. Dark tones in some scenes tend to be reserved for moody scenes in contrast to energetic scenes having warmer colors. Three Budget Prime Lenses for Canon

If you choose to invest in the Canon system you have several options in terms of what type of lens to select with your camera. I have listed below three budget prime lenses for Canon cameras. While zoom lenses provide the ability to change lengths, prime lenses are different in that their lengths are fixed. The Prime lenses discussed below are for EF Mount cameras which are for Canon Full Frame Cameras such as the 5D, 6D, and 1D product line. Priced at $179.00, the Canon EF 40mm f2.8 is my favorite lens of this group because of its size. Since it's a pancake size lens putting this on a big camera body like the 5D Mark III dramatically reduces the size of the camera. Canon EF 50mm f1.8

I wrote about the benefits of having a 50mm in a previous blog post, Why Your Camera Kit Should Include the Nifty Fifty Lens. The 50mm f1.8 is the most affordable on this list starting at $125.00. Similar to the 40mm f2.8, it makes for a great walkaround lens but many choose to use it as a portrait lens.[gallery ids="2038,2039,2040"]

Summary: Three Budget Prime Lenses for Canon

In conclusion, if I had to choose one lens on this list it would be the 40mm f2.8. Also, 40mm is the perfect in-between length between 35mm and 50mm. However, having all three are affordable and great additions to your camera bag. Review of Bluehost Web Hosting

If you're in a field that requires you to have a portfolio, you will often need to build a website. This ranges from if you're a Copy Writer, Designer, Photographer, you want a place that can show your body of work. Part of having your own website means you need a hosting service for that website. When I was first looking into a hosting service, I noticed Bluehost was recommended by several influencers. Here is my review of Bluehost web hosting.

Costs:

At the time of this writing, the Bluehost Basic Web Hosting plan starts at $2.95 a month. This sounds very affordable on paper but once you get to the checkout, Bluehost packages the 2.95/month fee into 36months. So to get this price, you must pay $106.20. The misleading price should have been my first red flag. Bluehost prices their fees annually, so the cheapest you can expect is $4.95/month ($59.40/ 12months).Also, you have 30 days to cancel your subscription to Bluehost. This can be tricky to evaluate a web hosting company. Partially if your website is brand new you may not have enough promotional content to attract visitors yet. If you moved your website from an existing host it probably is a lot easier to evaluate a hosting service. Canceling your Bluehost subscription must be done over the phone and not online.

Additional Costs:

There are additional costs when selecting a hosting company. With Bluehost, you will either need to select a domain or already having an existing one available.

• Search Engine Jumpstart - $2.99 per month (Billed annually at $35.88/yr)

So initially the hosting fees appear affordable, but can quickly add up.

In terms of support, Bluehost offers phone and chat support. There is a significant wait time when selecting either option.

What You Won’t Get:

Reliability is one thing you won't be getting when you use Bluehost. During my time with Bluehost, I experienced a lot of unexpected website crashes. When you consider how much Bluehost charges this is unacceptable. There were instances when I reviewed my statistics and I found my website would go down with even mild web traffic.Also, customer service was an issue. Particularly I found their service to be slow. For instance, you could end up waiting for some time if you select the chat service. Enough time where you would forget that you had selected that option.

Summary Review of Bluehost Web Hosting:

In conclusion, I would not recommend Bluehost as a hosting platform. My In Review of Bluehost Web Hosting one critical issue that all services should have is reliability. A web host, in my opinion, should not experience as many service down issues as I had with Bluehost. It's sometimes hard to gauge the reliability of a web host. If you're uncertain about a web host, my recommendation is to select the monthly plan. From there you should test how the host behaves in the first few weeks. If you have an existing website, and you're transferring over to a new hosting service it usually is easier to evaluate.Bluehost is owned by EIG (Endurance International Group). EIG is a large corporation that is known for buying small to medium web hosting companies. If you search the internet you will find tons of reviews from former customers who have noticed that their service degrades over time. It's possible that Bluehost was a good provider at some time. However, at this time I recommend avoiding Bluehost or similar EIG company.

Using Trello for Project Management

I began using Trello for Project management and productivity tool this January. Trello is a visual project management and collaboration app that is used by many. As I discussed in What I Spend the Most Time on as a Freelancer, Trello has been an amazing tool for organizing my projects and blog schedule.Below is a Sample of a Trello Boards:

At this time, one disadvantage that Trello has in comparison to its competitors is a time tracking feature. However, there are a number of third-party extensions that are available to enable time tracking in Trello. Many of the apps above have a native time tracking as part of their software.

In conclusion, using Trello for Project Management is a great tool. I think that Trello can work for anyone whether you use it to keep track of your side projects or your companies workflow. I think Trello's main strength is the app's ease of use and visual design. The interface is simple and easy to look at. People have used Trello for job searches, goal tracking, and even holiday planning. Overall, I find Trello to be a great tool to organize and track your projects.
